Fanfare Classic for Kids Golf Tournament

Fanfare Classic Golf Tournament

1st Place Winners of the inaugural Fanfare Classic for Kids golf tournament (right to left) Frank Parker, Mike Gilchrist, Craig Bartosh, and Kenneth Kalka with Event Chair Bill Phillips, who also serves on the Dallas Winds Board of Directors. Winners received airline passes courtesy of Southwest Airlines.

Presented by Locke Lord and benefitting the Dallas Winds youth programs, the Fanfare Classic for Kids enjoyed a miraculous break from the rain on Tuesday, April 19th at the Hills Course in Plano, a property of the Prestonwood Country Club. Sixty-seven golfers and volunteers had a wonderful fajita luncheon courtesy of Vinson & Elkins. Pictured below are Event Chair Bill Phillips, Artistic Director Jerry Jenkin, Dallas Winds Board Member and Locke Lord Partner Vicky Gunning, and special guest Jon McBride, retired NASA astronaut, who autographed a model of the Challenger shuttle that was part of the silent auction.

Congratulations to Alice Riggins, our Closest to the Pin Winner, pictured with Event Chair Bill Phillips.

Dallas Wind Symphony's All-State Clinic Jumpstarts Your Region, Area & All-State Band Auditions

Work with the pros from your first look at the music through audition day.

The All-State Jumpstart Clinic has been one of the most influential opportunities for me as a young musician in the Dallas area. The clinic covers all of the things to do and not to do in an all-state audition. As a trumpet player, I learned from this clinic how to perform and compete in the most efficient and professional way possible. Even after all-state is over, I still use what I've gained from this clinic for auditions in other settings such as college auditions or chair placement tests. It really is beneficial to learn these tips and guidelines from professionals who have spent much of their lives auditioning. — Christopher Luebke-Brown
