	Globetrotters! Tuesday, September 23, 2008 — 8:00pm Opening night is a whirlwind tour of the globe led by some well-traveled composers. Our trip begins in eastern Europe with Friedmann’s Slavonic Rhapsody, and makes a few stops in France with works by Poulenc and Faure. Then, after a layover in the good ol’ USA with Ron Nelson, we close with that international fave: Mossurgsky’s sensational Pictures at an Exhibition. It’s a treat not to be missed. 	Band’s Greatest Hits Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 — 8:00pm The greatest hits from the band world’s Top 40 list! From Clifton Williams’ Fanfare and Allegro to Holst’s Second Suite in F and Persichetti’s Symphony for Band, each work showcases the diverse styles and brilliant colors of the windband. It’s a musical tour de force that only the Dallas Wind Symphony could bring you.. 	Americans We Tuesday, November 18, 2008 — 8:00pm Brian Shaw, trumpetIt’s election time, so we’re celebrating that other great American tradition… the Windband. Everything on this program was penned by a composer born right here in the good ol’ U-S-of-A. You’ll hear music from the legendary Leonard Bernstein, Texas native Fisher Tull, and our own composer-in-residence John Gibson. It’s a salute to all-American, homegrown talent. USA! USA! 	Wonderwinds Tuesday, January 13, 2009 — 8:00pmGDYO Wind Symphony — David Kehler, Conductor Dallas Wind Symphony — Jerry Junkin, Conductor A show that spans generations. The veterans of the DWS team up with the precocious bandsters of the Wind Symphony of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra for a side-by-side extravaganza. You’ll hear marches, overtures, dance numbers. For the big finale, both bands combine to make a joyful noise with David Maslanka’s Give Us This Day – A Short Symphony for Band. Surround it with the musicians of the Dallas Wind Symphony, and you’ve got a really big, big band! Just in time for Valentines Day, it’s piano man & conductor Jeff Hellmer headlining our tribute to the romantic Big Band era. Put on your dancin’ shoes and swing on down to the Meyerson for a night of toe-tapping fun. 	Marches In March Tuesday, March 17, 2009 — 8:00pm Melinda Wilson, flute Bands love to play marches, and audiences love to hear ’em. Here’s a rare treat for anybody who’s crazy about a marching song. The band will play foot-lifters from march masters like John Williams, Karl King, and of course the immortal John Philip Sousa. If you like marches, you’ve gotta be here! And if that weren’t enough, our very own Principal Flutist, Melinda Wilson, will premiere a brand-new windband transcription of Lowell Liebermann’s Concerto for Flute. Don’t miss it! 	Song & Dance Wednesday, April 8, 2009 — 8:00pm Timothy Reynish, conductor We asked acclaimed British conductor Timothy Reynish to wrap up the season with his personal favorites, selections that haven’t been heard much “over here.” He responded with a show of highly original crowd pleasers like Grainger’s Marching Song of Democracy, Concertango by Alarcon, and Hesketh’s Masque. Tims favorite songs & dances are sure to become yours too!
